    Applications are being sought for the Play Pathfinder Grants, to build or further develop play spaces in East Sussex. This is a tight timescale where it is hoped that all applications will be submitted by the end of February 2009.

    Guidance notes have been issued and can now be downloaded in MS Word format from the Hastings Voluntary Action Website.

    A festive celebration of community and voluntary action in East Sussex took place at the 4th December in Eastbourne. A countywide meeting, The Big Event was a succesful networking opportunity for over 50 members from different local groups. A full report will be available soon at www.askcasper.org.uk/representation

    East Sussex County Council have launched their Community Partnership Finance programme. Priority 2 is funding to help meet the cost costs of voluntary and community organisations that are delivering activities and services in at least one of the following ESCC service areas:
    Adult Social Care
    Children
    Young People
    Mental Health
    Disabilities
    Community Transport
    Volunteering Support
    Substance Misuse
    This funding will be open to organisations that work across the entire county or a significant proportion of it. However it will also be open to those who operate in one borough or district, but wish to work collaboratively with an organisation in another geographical area delivering a similar activity or service.

    Eastbourne Association of Voluntary Services (EAVS) and South Downs Council for Voluntary Services (SDCVS) have issued a consultation document about a proposal to form one organisation. The proposed new organisation would provide services in the Eastbourne, Lewes and Wealden areas with the intention of:

    Maximising the use of existing resources
    Providing consistency of service across the districts
    Providing a more sustainable structure for the local delivery of support to voluntary groups

    The consultation document gives more information about this, answers some questions and asks for views on the proposal and about the services we should deliver in the future. It also contains information about three events in different geographical areas to enable comments on the consultation in person. Details of the consultation are on the website http://www.eavs.org/.
