  • Does your group want to provide a new service?. Is it something that is new and innovative?
Or maybe it will involve people in a new and innovative way.
Or perhaps you want to extend a proven project into a new area.
If so, then perhaps you ought to apply to the Seedcorn Fund. This grants scheme is made available by East Sussex County Council through the Community Partnership Finance (CPF) Programme.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for groups in the voluntary and community sector who can demonstrate this innovative quality, a quality which is, perhaps, needed more than ever in the current economic climate.
Full information about the process and concerning eligibility can be found, along with application forms, on the HVA website at:

  • Here is a reminder to start thinking about applications to the next round of the Small Grants Scheme, administered by Hastings Voluntary Action on behalf of Hastings Borough Council and Hastings & Rother Primary Care Trust. Local voluntary / community groups can apply for up to £500 to support activities that enhance the quality of Hastings and St Leonards residents’ lives and increase their involvement in the community.

Money can be used for a wide variety of uses, although applications with specific health benefits (such as increasing physical activity or encouraging
a healthier lifestyle) will especially welcome.

The deadline for the next round is 29th September, which might sound like a long way away. However, that gives you time to give careful thought to your bid and to read the guidance notes thoroughly. It is invariably the obviously rushed bids, written without due reference to the guidance, that find themselves at the bottom of the ...
