Capacitybuilders publishes Consortium Development Grant Learning Paper
The Consortium Development Grant Learning Paper is a report about Consortia, voluntary sector-led partnerships, which were a key feature of the ChangeUp programme.
It is envisaged that this report will be of particular interest to two main audiences:
- voluntary sector partnerships
- funders wishing to explore setting up or funding similar partnerships.
Key learning
It describes the key features of Consortia and considers learning points, particularly in relation to the Consortia Development Grant (CDG), an investment by Capacitybuilders of £12.2m between 2008-11.
Consortia development funding
This funding was focused on partnerships of local and regional voluntary and community sector support services – known as ‘Consortia’ – and was tied to the delivery of core expectations and strategic outcomes.
Long term strategic planning
The CDG investment from Capacitybuilders was designed to enable local and regional Consortia to lead longer-term strategic planning and investment in support services, thus meeting the needs and potential of frontline organisations, and allowing for the forging of stronger links with local partnerships and statutory bodies.
Promoting diversity and inclusive membership
Throughout, Consortia had been encouraged to be more inclusive in their membership and to promote diversity.
Also, as a condition of this grant, they had to demonstrate evidence of embedding equalities and diversity.
