Recession and Voluntary and Community Sector

In the light of changing economic situation it is important to react and be able to provide some early feedback and evidence of some of its effects on the local Voluntary and Community Organisations. Adam Chugg one of the SpeakUp representative is leading the work and has been collecting evidence from other representatives and feeding those back to ESCC (East Sussex County Council).

The project is helping with:

  • Coordinated collection of evidence across East Sussex (incl. CVSsA voluntary organisation which is set up, owned and run by local groups to support, promote and develop local voluntary and community action. CVS support their members by providing them with a range of services and by acting as a voice for the local voluntary, community and faith sector. survey)
  • Liaison and reporting to ESCC
  • Linking with regional work and lobbying (by RAISE - Regional Action and Involvement South East)
  • Some results include increase in prompt payments from ESCC invoices and VCSVoluntary and Community Sector. representation place at ESCC Recession Task Force
