Who I work with

East Sussex Council for Voluntary Youth Service - ESCVYS (www.escvys.org.uk ) who is an independent organisation providing a specialist voice for the voluntary and community sector working with children and young people in East Sussex. ESCVYS is a network of over 115 voluntary youth organisations and projects working with over 12,000 young people in East Sussex.

ESCVYS provides:

- representation mechanisms for the Children's Trust
- regular email updates around policy, training, funding and sector news
- a support service around developing the appropriate policies and procedures
- networking opportunities for members
- forum events on relevant topics i.e. extended schools and Every Child Matters
- a point of referral between colleagues working with children and young people in East Sussex
- consultation on relevant voluntary and community sector issues

IMPACT Grpup is a forum, which provides a central point of contact for voluntary and community groups to participate in, influence developments of and impact on the strategic planning, design, delivery and commissioningThe process by which the needs of the local population are identified, priorities set, and then appropriate services are purchase and evaluated. of services for children and young people and their families in East Sussex. Using existing and new networks to ensure that all organisations both large and small are able to receive up to date information about key developments affecting those working with children and young people.

East Sussex Association for the Blind (ESAB) works across the rural districts of East Sussex and in Brighton and Hove. Our staff provide a wide range of services to nearly 1500 members, the majority of whom are elderly.

Who I work with

Ian works as MissionThe broad effect the organisation or project wants to have, why it exists. A summary of the overall difference it wants to make. and Unity Co-ordinator at Churches Together in Sussex. Churches Together is a network of Christian Denominations, organisations and over 50 local groups which have Church unity as one of their primary goals.  Across Sussex over 100,000 men, women and children attend 1000 churches every Sunday, and many also work within their local communities to enrich the lives of those who live, work and visit Sussex.

Churches Together in Sussex are a co-ordinating and facilitating umbrella group and co-ordinates the activities of the various individual groups of "Churches Together" in towns and villages across Sussex. Approx. 50 groups, meets at different times, please contact Ian for details. Churches Together in Sussex also works to promote the role of all 1000 Christian Churches in Sussex and seeks to provide a link with other faith communities.

Who I work with

The East Sussex Advice Partnership (ESAP) is made up of, Citizens Advice East Sussex, Brighton Housing Trust, Hastings Advice and Representation Centre and Shelter  (Hastings)

The advantage of working together is that no one single agency can achieve the delivery of an East Sussex wide legal advice service.  This can only be achieved by pooling together the strengths of the respective partners in terms of geographical spread and range/capacity of advice. Age Concern is a national federation of independent charities. Age Concern East Sussex is the County organisation for 19 Age Concern Groups and provides leadership and support as appropriate. The local network of Age Concerns represents the interests of older people, ensure the voice of older people themselves are at the heart of decision-making and planning, influences and campaigns and provides a wide range of services.

Steve Hare will also, through his role on the SpeakUp Forum, help representing on the county wide level views of the East Sussex Seniors Forum and Meridian Mature Citizens Forum.

Who I work with

Reg is working for The East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) which is an organisation led by disabled people, where non-disabled and disabled people work together to promote the equality and full participation of disabled people in society. Through its activities and services, ESDA provides expert advice, information and practical support to disabled people in overcoming any barriers they encounter. Through ESDA's campaigns, forums, training, research and representation, the voice of disabled people influences the movement towards equal rights in society.

Who I work with
Wealden ComNet is a Local Community Network that brings together people from the voluntary and community sector, with statutory partners to share information and experience and become involved in local partnership work. The Community Network provides an opportunity to have a real impact on the issues which affect us all, such as Health, the Environment, Education, the Local Economy etc. It also acts as a means of consulting the voluntary sector for statutory bodies recording needs and seeking views.
